Halo Custom Edition's Editing Kit

This is my ....sixth? ... attempt at making full documentation for the HEK.

My method for most of the tutorials is to try to explain each step of each lesson as something that can be skipped, with varying levels of stability. This is to allow for experimentation, to make things easier to learn rather than a chore to study.

Think of it more as a type of "library access" rather than as a collection of step-by-step tutorials.

With a website like this one, it's just a matter of making a quick edit for any mistakes :)

Currently the method of finding tutorials is to go and look through six or seven different websites which are host to some REALLY old PDFs. Each one only teaches one single lesson but can:

  • take up almost 200Mb for each document.
  • go missing when nobody backs them up
  • often compressed in third party archives like rar or 7z
  • explicitly require Blitzkrieg and other obsolete(broken on modern windows) tools,
  • or don't explain why certain things work//WON'T work in a way that can be learned without further homework//studying that ISN'T in the document.
